After the northern Italian Piedmontese Army conquered the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies circa 1861, they embarked on a Culture War bent on destroying the history and culture of the South in the minds of southern Italians, and substituting northern Italian history and culture in its place (see 'Related Articles link #1 “When Military). Black Squadron Keygen Mac. The phenomenal success of this Culture War in Italy is documented in Pino Aprile’s book “Terroni” (see 'Related Articles link #2 & 3 “Terroni ). However, the North’s Culture War against southern Italians was not limited to Italy.
'Pino Aprile's TERRONI is one of those books that could cause a revolution, albeit a peaceful one, if read by enough people. It could become 'the spark that starts the fire' by igniting a sentiment of unity among southern Italians, who are discovering that something is missing in mainstream history books informing how Italy. For French readers, the term “revisionism” may be associated with Holocaust negationism, but revisionism is a normal and permanent process of historiographic evolution, a natural. The ‘total shock and awe’ culture assault has been carried to the southern-Italian diaspora in America. Again, as in Italy, the northern-Italian culture hegemonists have been wildly successful. Near seventeen million Americans of southern Italian descent not only know nothing about their pre-Ellis Island history/culture; they have been systemically mislead and misinformed by Northern hegemonic operatives in universities and mass media. Southern-Italian Americans have come to think the history/culture of the North (e.g. Renaissance) is their history/culture.
This blog has repeatedly documented Northern hegemony in the minds and institutions of the Italian American literati (e. Subtitrari Merlin 1998 Movie. g. University Italian Studies programs) and prominenti such as politicians, lawyers, etc.
(e.g see Related Articles link #4 'Ivory Tower) However, Northern hegemony is not limited to ‘high-brow’ academic and professional elites. The depths of the North’s Culture War's insidious penetration can be found in ‘low-brow’ southern-Italian American ‘pulp-fiction’ such as Carmen Anthony Fiore’s ‘dime-novel’ “Vendetta Mountain.”. I thank the reviewer for the time and effort in writing the review about my novel. Of course, as the biased author, I don't agree with everything mentioned in the surprisingly lengthy review.
When I wrote the novel I was not in 'cahoots' with any previous Northern Italian opinions or conclusions of what those people think of Southern Italians. Even in the USA the descendents of Northern Italians still think they're better than we descendents of Southern Italians, who were the least welcome of all European immigrants. My father, who came with his family when a youngster to America in the early 1900 years, said they soon realized they weren't wanted. And after growing up and entering the workforce, I met prejudice myself. I was shooting for realism during the writing of my novel. Maybe I got carried away with the description, but it wasn't meant to show displeasure, just the differences between the classes and the lingering hatreds and feuds that never seem to die.
