I suddenly can't export Excel Spreadsheets to PDF. Windows 10 just pushed the big update a couple hours ago. September 1, 2016. To be clear, I can't export to PDF, or do a simple 'Save As' to PDF. And I'm not trying to send this to printer. It has always just created a PDF of the current sheet into a folder I select.
I keep getting this error message: I've tried playing with this. Sigma As 227 Program Comcast. and get this: Is it the Print to PDF option? I've never messed with it before, so I don't know what used to be there: Can't figure that one out. The dropdown you see above leads to a 'Print to File' option, but checking it or leaving it unchecked doesn't help. I tried finding different printers and got this: So as you can see, I'm trying. Vardhaman: Thank you for the reply. Using your supplied link for a Quick Repair didn't work.
(Feel free to roll your eyes at the following.) Going a step further and using the Online Repair ended up requiring me to sign in, but it's not accepting my login and password. My father-in-law's info (product key/email-password) is impossible to get at this point because he's in the hospital for an extended stay. So it looks like my options are: 1. Pick a restore point and see if I can get my entire computer, including Office 360, to revert to pre-Windows-update status. Transfer all my files to my other computer (Ubuntu) and use Libre Office. Buy my own 360.
Hey, I did tell you that you could roll your eyes. I'm not a fan of drama either. Update on troubleshooting steps.
(Notes: This is not happening in Word; just Excel. And started immediately after the big Win 10 update on Sept 1. I am not on a domain network. Simply connected to WiFi at our house.) 1. Quick repair via the link.
Online repair via the link. Purchased Office 365 Personal. Got shiny new Office 2016 software.
Mio Moov M400 Map Update Download Free. Contacted tech support via chat and gave her this thread to look. Options were a) agree to have someone access my computer after I removed Microsoft from all liability for doing so or b) Pay for tech support or c) Both.
I said I was not comfortable with these options, and would rather keep posting here and try to have Open Office export/create my PDFs. The tech scheduled a call back for tomorrow, Sept 10. Whether they ask me to pay for their services at that time is yet unknown. Just got an email from Microsoft saying the callback is a paid service. So now I am in line to talk to a rep via chat to cancel. Side note: Can't say I'm a fan of having a forced update mess with my computer, and then having to pay the company to fix it. I get it though.
It's a business and I'm apparently willing to get caught up in something Kafka-esque. I'll just keep posting here like a squeaky wheel until me and the other people who say they have this problem get what might be an answer, or there's a Win 10 update that fixes the issue. Chat rep said the callback would be free. So I stayed home for the two-hour call window. The call came 4 hours after I gave up sitting at the computer.
This was a Level 2 tech. He had heard of the problem and said the solution was to reinstall Windows and Office. I asked if he could email me the directions, or email me a Microsoft Community link that showed the steps. He said he didn't have email, so he had to verbally tell me how to do it. His directions started with telling me to Google something, which in my experience is never a good sign.
According to the tech, I would have to find Media Creation Tools on the MS website, create an ISO file and run the setup.exe file from the iso folder. Then I would have to download Uninstall Fixit for Office 2016 or install Office using the 'myaccount' section of office.com. I decided to put it off, since I'm not a fan of running.exe files when I don't know what they're doing. (Is this guaranteed to work without causing more issues and/or leading to more troubleshooting?) 10.
I just received an email from Microsoft Community asking me if this issue has been resolved. (The answer is no.) My main questions now.
Can a future Windows update automatically fix this? If so, will this update happen so I can avoid wiping out/reinstalling Windows? Microsoft called yesterday Sept 18 while I was sitting at the computer, so instead of giving up, I kept going. This step involved repairing Windows. I started with assistance and continued on my own, knowing that MS would call again later to check up. Windows was apparently repaired, but I still had the same problem. Microsoft tech Ameenulla Khan called today.
