Either plugin will get the job done, but I personally prefer Neyrinck, mostly because Paul seems to me to be very interested in user feedback and also is one of the more innovative developers. This is absolutely true. I've met Paul a few times and he always responds very quickly to questions. I recently did a Dolby E encode with the standalone v2 version of Neyrinck's Soundcode for Dolby E and it was a lot faster than the already quicker than realtime v1 (under 3 minutes for a 50 minute program on a 8core Harpertown MacPro). I chose the Neyrinck SoundCode for Dolby E software to accommodate an immediate need for tape layback, and future expectations of file based Dolby E handling.
The software looked very flexible, and the company is innovative. But what I really benefited from was Paul's responsiveness. Not being well versed in Dolby E, and not a particular tech-head in general, I found the software intuitive and easy to use within ProTools.
But where the support became really important was in identifying and troubleshooting the numerous idiosyncratic interface issues I was having with the Sony HDW-D2000 HDCam video deck. Even though these were aside from the SoundCode software itself, Paul helped me understand what the playback/decode issues I was having were (mostly due to the Sony maintenance menu item M-372-NON-AUDIO INPUT needing to be set to 'BURST' to record the data stream unchanged). Now that the smoke has cleared on the project and I know what to look for in the future, all is calm. But when you're staring down a deadline it's really cool to have such reliable and expert help right out of the box.
