I'm posting this just in case any of you own the PCI-X 2 port RAID card, which BTW is backward compatible with a standard PCI slot. For those who do not know, this is a hardware RAID card. The is not technically supported by Windows 7, however I found a work around for this, and I will explain.
Windows 7 would not let me use the 64bit driver located on their website during the install. So I had to connect it to the ICH9 controller, and install Windows 7 that way. Once the OS was complete, I installed the 3ware RAID card, and used the 64bit Driver. I then shut down, and connected the hard drive to port 0 on the RAID card.

I then rebooted and booted off of my Acronis Backup CD again, and proceeded to restore my image file to the RAID 1 array. Have to love it when everything falls into place. I bought this card some time back for my old computer, but one thing after another came up and I never used it. Now I'm building a new system and was going to use the card, but found it was not supported by W7 and the slot I wanted to put it in, wont work because the extra connector for 64bit hits the heat sink for the chipset. So I don't think I'm going to mess with the card. Instead, Acronis backup has a continous backup function which, from the way I read it, backs up any changes every 5 minutes which would be a sort of time delayed mirroring. Not as good as true hardware raid 1, but maybe fewer headaches to setup.
